GTIA "LÉGION" / SGTIA 1UNIT: GREEN PLATOON (SECTION VERT 1) & NOIR 51 (2 REP)
LOCATION: BOA NAPOLEON (POST-WITHDRAWAL) DTG: [DATE REDACTED]
SUBJECT: AFTER ACTION REPORT (COMPTE-RENDU DE FIN DE MISSION) – OP EQUILIBRE 07 (SHURYAK PATROL)
TO: C-TOP (COMMAND ELEMENT)
FROM: CNE. A. Hughes, COMPANY COMMANDER (VERT)
CLASSIFICATION: DIFFUSION RESTREINTE (RESTRICTED)
1. GENERAL SITUATION (SITUATION GÉNÉRALE)
Operation: Combat Reconnaissance Patrol along the Shuryak Valley MSR (Kharka Dahy, Salar Ban, Cham).
Force Composition:
GREEN 1-0 (HQ)
GREEN 1-1 (Mounted in VBMR Griffon)
GREEN 1-2 (Mounted in VBCI)
NOIR 51 (2-Man Sniper/Overwatch Team)
2. EXECUTION (DÉROULEMENT)
PHASE 1: THE BARRICADE & MASCAL EVENT
The convoy moved North along the Zaymur River. NOIR 51 established an initial overwatch on the Western mountainside (~200m elevation).
The Barricade: Approximately 300m South of Kharka Dahy, the convoy was halted by a vehicle barricade.
IED Discovery: Green 1-1 dismounted to inspect. An audible trigger alerted the point element to an embedded IED. The element demonstrated excellent discipline, withdrawing rapidly before detonation. Zero casualties were taken from the initial blast.
Loss of Initiative: Following the IED, the platoon became bogged down. Elements lingered at the barricade assessing bypass options but failed to maneuver out of the danger area in a timely manner.
IDF & PBIED Attack (The MASCAL):
Due to the delay, enemy Indirect Fire (IDF/Mortars) began targeting the static formation. Initial rounds were ineffective, but subsequent adjustments caused 2x WIA.
The platoon failed to displace from the kill zone, resulting in further IDF casualties.
Amidst the confusion and poor perimeter security, a Suicide Bomber (PBIED) infiltrated the perimeter undetected. The PBIED reached within 5 meters of the Casualty Collection Point (CCP) and detonated, triggering a Mass Casualty (MASCAL) event.
A secondary mortar barrage hit the paralyzed formation shortly after.
Outcome: The advance was delayed by 40 to 60 minutes. The platoon was entirely dependent on the heroic efforts of the medical personnel to stabilize the massive number of casualties and restore combat effectiveness.
PHASE 2: CLEARING KHARKA DAHY
Following stabilization, the platoon pushed into Kharka Dahy.
Urban Friction:
A fireteam from Green 1-1 entered a warehouse without conducting proper IED checks. An embedded IED detonated, causing immediate casualties.
A soldier failed to check his sector and missed a mobile 40mm Bofors AA gun holding an angle within 100m. The soldier sustained shrapnel wounds before the asset was neutralized.
VBCI Overwatch: Green 1-2 successfully positioned the VBCI in a dominant overwatch posture. When enemy motorized reinforcements (UAZs, up-armored Urals) arrived from the North, the VBCI effectively shredded the counter-attack before it could impact the infantry.
Outcome: Kharka Dahy was eventually cleared. All casualties were resuscitated by the medics.
PHASE 3: SALAR BAN & NOIR 51 FAILURES
The element pushed towards Salar Ban. NOIR 51 displaced to a hostile radio/radar tower, cleared it, and established a new overwatch.
Intelligence Failure (NOIR 51): NOIR 51 was equipped with an organic ISR Drone but failed to deploy it at any point during the operation. This critical lapse in judgment prevented the timely discovery of the enemy mortar camp (which caused the MASCAL) and the Bofors AA position.
Tactical Failure (NOIR 51): Enemy sniper teams located on Abbas Ghar mountain engaged the NOIR 51 position. Despite taking effective fire and sustaining injuries, the two-man team failed to relocate to a secondary hide. Their combat effectiveness and overwatch capabilities were severely degraded.
Salar Ban Clearance: The infantry clearance of Salar Ban proceeded relatively smoothly. Heavy motorized reinforcements attempted to push the town, but the VBCI again neutralized all threats with zero friendly casualties.
PHASE 4: STRATEGIC COLLAPSE & WITHDRAWAL
Civilian Incident: Reports were relayed from Northern Command that the VBCI gunner engaged and shot at least one (1) civilian during the clearance of Kharka Dahy.
GREENFOR Retaliation: This ROE violation immediately shifted GREENFOR's diplomatic stance to FULLY HOSTILE. GREENFOR deployed an Mi-24 Hind gunship to engage GTIA forces.
Exfiltration: Friendly forces successfully engaged and shot down the Mi-24 Hind. However, due to the total collapse of the operational environment, the order was given to abort the push to Cham. The platoon conducted a fighting withdrawal back to friendly lines.
3. ASSESSMENT OF LOSSES (BILAN)
A. FRIENDLY (AMIS)
Personnel: Extreme WIA count due to IDF, PBIED, and IEDs. 0 KIA (Credited entirely to exceptional medical staff).
Diplomatic: Total failure. GREENFOR is now an active combatant against GTIA forces. Investigation pending regarding the civilian casualty.
B. ENEMY / NEUTRAL (ENNEMI / TIERS)
Red Faction (OPFOR): PBIED destroyed, Mortar teams active (unconfirmed kills), massive motorized losses (Urals, UAZs), 1x 40mm Bofors neutralized.
Green 4 (GREENFOR): 1x Mi-24 Hind DESTROYED.
Civilians: 1x Civilian casualty (Subject to ROE investigation).
4. LESSONS LEARNED (RETEX)
SUSTAIN (POINTS FORTS)
Medical Response: The platoon medics are the sole reason this operation did not result in massive loss of life. Their ability to manage a PBIED MASCAL while under mortar fire was extraordinary.
VBCI Employment: Green 1-2's positioning of the VBCI was textbook, completely negating the enemy's motorized reinforcement capabilities.
IMPROVE (POINTS À AMÉLIORER)
Initiative Under Fire (Getting off the "X"): The platoon's paralysis at the vehicle barricade allowed enemy mortars to zero in. Units cannot remain static in a known kill zone.
Perimeter Security: Allowing a suicide bomber to walk within 5 meters of a Casualty Collection Point is an egregious failure of 360-degree security.
ISR Utilization: NOIR 51's failure to use their drone blinded the Platoon Commander. Assets are useless if kept in the rucksack.
Sniper Displacement: A two-man sniper team cannot win an attrition battle against multiple shooters. NOIR 51 must displace immediately upon compromise.
ROE / PID (Rules of Engagement): The failure to positively identify targets resulted in a civilian casualty, turning a neutral faction into an active enemy, and forcing an operational abort. Fire discipline is non-negotiable.
5. CONCLUSION
TACTICAL PARTIAL SUCCESS / STRATEGIC DEFEAT. While Kharka Dahy and Salar Ban were cleared and enemy motorized elements destroyed, the MSR remains unsecured (Cham was not reached). The operational paralysis at the barricade cost us momentum, and the ROE violation in Kharka Dahy has opened a second front against GREENFOR. GTIA Command must now prepare for conventional retaliation from the North.
