    MINISTÈRE DES ARMÉES

GTIA "LÉGION" / SGTIA 1 UNIT: GREEN PLATOON (SECTION VERT 1) L

OCATION: BOA NAPOLEON (POST-MISSION) DTG: [DATE REDACTED]

SUBJECT: AFTER ACTION REPORT (COMPTE-RENDU DE FIN DE MISSION) – OP EQUILIBRE 06 (SOUTHERN SHIELD) TO: C-TOP (COMMAND ELEMENT)

FROM: CNE. A. Hughes, COMPANY COMMANDER (VERT)

    CLASSIFICATION: DIFFUSION RESTREINTE (RESTRICTED)

    1. GENERAL SITUATION (SITUATION GÉNÉRALE)

Operation: Clearance of the Khoran Rud valley (Khunbar) and securing the Korangal Gate (Ali Abad, COP Korangal, Kandlay). Force Composition: * 1x VBL (Scout)

    • 2x VBMR Griffon
    • 1x VBCI
    • 1x Medical Vehicle (Véhicule Sanitaire) Context: Operation commenced with the primary objective of neutralizing the Southern flank, followed by an immediate exploitation to the North to secure the Korangal Valley entrance. Air support (5th RHC) was active and cleared for engagement.

    2. EXECUTION (DÉROULEMENT)

PHASE 1: KHORAN RUD & KHUNBAR CLEARANCE

The convoy advanced into the Khoran Rud valley. Infantry dismounted approximately 300m North of Khunbar to initiate the assault.

    • Support by Fire (SBF): Green 1-1 maneuvered South-East to a mountain elevation (~50m), establishing a dominant SBF position. Their suppression was highly effective, inflicting immediate enemy casualties.
    • The Assault & Armor Friction: Green 1-3 and the HQ Element, supported by the VBCI, pushed down the main axis into the village.
      • Incident: The VBCI sustained severe damage from concentrated RPG fire and was forced to temporarily withdraw from the immediate contact line.
    • Consolidation & Clearance: Momentum was rapidly recovered.
      • Green 1-1 pushed from the North into the "Yellow Sector" (Eastern Khunbar).
      • Green 1-3, HQ, and the recovered VBCI pushed into the "Green Sector" (Western Khunbar).
    • Zornak Cave Complex: Engineers, supported by Close Air Support (CAS), permanently sealed the entrance to the cave complex, trapping any remaining assets inside.
    • Result: Khunbar cleared in approximately 1 hour. INS-MOT-02 (Motorized Company) was completely destroyed.

    TACTICAL PAUSE & RESUPPLY

The element displaced to the Korangal Gate intersection. A rapid resupply (Class I, V, X) was conducted to transition into Phase 2.

PHASE 2: KORANGAL GATE (ALI ABAD & KANDLAY)

    • Ali Abad Clearance:
      • Overwatch: Green 1-2 and Green 1-3 occupied OP MURAT, providing heavy SBF over the town.
      • Assault: Green 1-1 inserted via VBMRs and cleared Ali Abad on foot.
      • Civilian Impact: One (1) civilian was wounded in crossfire. The casualty was immediately stabilized by platoon medics and evacuated to a safe zone. 0 Civilian KIA.
    • COP Korangal: The insurgent-held outpost was entirely neutralized via precision missile strikes.
    • Kandlay Clearance & Artillery Threat:
      • Overwatch: NOIR 5-1 established a sniper/overwatch position on Rougle Hill (300m NNW of the peak) overwatching Kandlay. They were subsequently reinforced by Green 1-2.
      • Enemy Counter-Attack: A small enemy reinforcement platoon moved from the Korangal Valley. Green 1-1 spotted the movement and coordinated a VBCI ambush. The enemy force was annihilated with 0 friendly casualties.
      • Artillery Neutralization: An enemy artillery position was spotted 250m North of Kandlay suppressing the Ali Abad element. CAS from the 5th RHC was called in, neutralizing the guns immediately.
      • Final Assault: Green 1-1, Green 1-3, and HQ pushed into Kandlay, securing the village with minimal resistance.

    3. ASSESSMENT OF LOSSES (BILAN)

    A. FRIENDLY (AMIS)

    • Personnel: ~10 WIA total across both phases. All casualties were minor, patched up by medics on-site, and returned to combat effectiveness. 0 KIA.
    • Vehicles: 1x VBCI (Severely damaged by RPG, but recovered/operational).
    • Civilians: 1 WIA (Evacuated and treated). 0 KIA.

    B. ENEMY (ENNEMI)

Catastrophic losses inflicted on the insurgent network.

    • Infantry: Estimated 2x Companies DESTROYED (Including INS-MOT-02 in Khunbar).
    • Mechanized/Motorized: * Estimated 1x Company of BTRs DESTROYED.
      • 12+ Ural Transport Trucks DESTROYED.
      • Multiple UAZs DESTROYED.
    • Infrastructure: Zornak Cave sealed. COP Korangal leveled. Artillery position (North of Kandlay) destroyed.

    4. LESSONS LEARNED (RETEX)

    • SUSTAIN (POINTS FORTS):
      • Air-Ground Integration: The coordination between ground spotters (Green 1) and Air Assets (Missiles/5th RHC) was flawless, rapidly eliminating the COP and the artillery threat.
      • Maneuver Tactics: The use of elevated SBF positions (Elevation 50, OP Murat, Rougle Hill) consistently isolated the objectives, allowing the assault elements to clear urban areas with overwhelming covering fire.
      • Medical Efficiency: Sustaining zero KIA and having all 10 WIA return to the fight is a testament to the tactical proficiency of the medical personnel.
    • IMPROVE (POINTS À AMÉLIORER):
      • UAS / Drone Surveillance: While the operation was a massive success, the battle picture could have been clearer. An increase in dedicated drone surveillance assets (mini-UAVs at the platoon level) would prevent surprises such as the sudden RPG ambush on the VBCI in Khunbar and provide better early warning of artillery assets.

    5. CONCLUSION

MISSION OVERWHELMING SUCCESS. The Southern flank (Khoran Rud) is completely sealed, and the "door" to the Korangal Valley has been kicked open and secured. The platoon operated with exceptional lethality and momentum. The battlespace is now highly stable for GTIA logistics and future pushes North.
