    MINISTÈRE DES ARMÉES

GTIA "LÉGION" / SGTIA 1 UNIT: GREEN PLATOON (SECTION VERT 1)

LOCATION: BOA NAPOLEON DTG: [DATE REDACTED]

SUBJECT: AFTER ACTION REPORT (COMPTE-RENDU DE FIN DE MISSION) – OP EQUILIBRE 02 TO: C-TOP (COMMAND ELEMENT)

FROM: CNE. A. Hughes, COMPANY COMMANDER (VERT)

    CLASSIFICATION: DIFFUSION RESTREINTE (RESTRICTED)

    1. GENERAL SITUATION (SITUATION GÉNÉRALE)

Operation: Assault on OP RESTREPO and clearance of Korangal Junction. Context: Following the refit of Green Platoon, forces moved to seize high ground to stabilize the sector. Forces:

    • Maneuver: GREEN 1-0, 1-1, 1-2 (VBCI-IVs & Infantry).
    • Support: NOIR 5-0 (2 REP) – Mountain SBF Position.

    2. EXECUTION (DÉROULEMENT)

PHASE 1: ISOLATION & ASSAULT (COMPLETED)

    • Support by Fire: NOIR 5-0 (2 REP) successfully established an overwatch position on the western ridge. Their suppression allowed the maneuver element to close distance.
    • Base of Fire: GREEN 1-0 and GREEN 1-2 (VBCIs) established block positions at the Junction, effectively covering the Hansho and Korangal approaches.
    • The Assault: GREEN 1-1 (Infantry) dismounted and initiated the assault on OP RESTREPO.
      • Observation: The assault element met significantly heavier resistance than anticipated. The engagement became a prolonged attrition battle, severely bogging down momentum.
    • Fires: Indirect fire missions on FSA PAKI (Targeting OP Dallas) were EFFECTIVE. No flanking fire was received from the Dallas position, validating the suppression plan.
    • Outcome: OP RESTREPO was eventually SEIZED and CLEARED.

PHASE 2: CLEARANCE OF ALI ABAD (CANCELLED)

    • Due to the prolonged duration of the assault on Restrepo and the degradation of the platoon's combat effectiveness (heavy casualties/fatigue), PHASE 2 was ABORTED.
    • The clearance of ALI ABAD was not executed. The unit consolidated on OP RESTREPO.

    3. ASSESSMENT OF LOSSES (BILAN)

    A. FRIENDLY (AMIS)

    • Personnel: HEAVY CASUALTIES (WIA). Multiple urgent medical evacuations required.
    • KIA: 0. (All casualties stabilized).
    • Material: VBCI assets operational.

    B. ENEMY (ENNEMI)

    • OP RESTREPO: Seized.
    • Personnel: Garrison at Restrepo neutralized.

    4. LESSONS LEARNED (RETEX)

    • SUSTAIN: Coordination with NOIR 5-0 and the fire plan on FSA PAKI were crucial. Without the neutralization of OP Dallas, the bogged-down infantry would have been vulnerable to crossfire.
    • IMPROVE: Intelligence preparation regarding the defensive strength of Restrepo was underestimated. The time-to-secure was extensive, causing the cancellation of follow-on objectives (Ali Abad).

    5. CONCLUSION

MISSION PARTIAL SUCCESS. The primary objective (OP RESTREPO) holds the high ground and is in friendly hands. However, the MSR flank at Ali Abad remains uncleared due to loss of momentum. The platoon requires refit and casualty replacement before further offensive action.
