OPORD 02: "OPERATION EQUILIBRE - PHASE 2"

1. SITUATION

A. General

Following the partial success of OPORD 01, the MSR TEXAS is secure up to ASHAT. However, the destruction of the civilian truck has rendered the local population in ASHAT hostile. Enemy forces (Al-Ghuraba) have retreated deeper into the valley but maintain strongholds overlooking the critical Korangal Junction.

B. Enemy Forces (OPFOR)

• Disposition: Enemy elements are dug in at OP RESTREPO and OP DALLAS.
• Intent: To deny the junction connecting Southern Kunar to the Northern province using plunging fire and mortar assets.
• Capabilities: Heavy machine guns, RPGs, and 82mm mortars.

C. Friendly Forces (BLUFOR)

• GREEN 1 (Section Vert 1): With VBCI assets. Currently staged at AA SHOSHA (Ashat Village).
• NOIR 50 (2 REP): Attached Support element.

2. MISSION

GREEN 1 is to SEIZE the enemy outpost RESTREPO and SECURE the Korangal Junction in order to open the route to the Northern Kunar Province.

3. EXECUTION

A. Commander's Intent

My intent is to isolate the junction by suppressing OP Dallas while physically seizing the high ground at Restrepo. Speed and violence of action are critical to prevent the enemy from reinforcing from the deeper valley.

B. Concept of Operations

The operation will be conducted in TWO PHASES:

PHASE 1: ISOLATION & SEIZURE (Limit of Advance: PL ROUGE)

• Start Point: Assembly Area (AA) SHOSHA (Ashat Village).
• Maneuver: GREEN 1 splits into Maneuver and Support elements.
• Support by Fire (SBF):
  • NOIR 50: Establishes SBF position on the mountain WEST of OP RESTREPO.
  • Mission: Cover GREEN 1-1’s movement and suppress Restrepo.
• Junction Security (Base of Fire):
  • GREEN 1-0 (VBCI): Establish position at the Junction covering Hansho Hill and the Koran Rud river lines.
  • GREEN 1-2 (VBCI): Establish position at the Junction covering Ali Abad and the Korangal Valley approach.
• Assault:
  • GREEN 1-1 (Infantry): Dismount and move to destroy enemy assets at OP RESTREPO and SEIZE the objective.
• Fires:
  • Indirect fire will saturate Fire Support Area (FSA) PAKI (Target: OP DALLAS) to neutralize interference.

PHASE 2: CLEARANCE & CONSOLIDATION

• Trigger: OP RESTREPO is SEIZED and SECURED.
• Maneuver:
  • All GREEN 1 elements merge back to platoon control.
  • Force crosses Phase Line (PL) ROUGE pushing towards the Korangal Valley.
• Objective:
  • SECURE and CLEAR the village of ALI ABAD.
  • Purpose: Ali Abad is the closest population center to the MSR; it must be neutralized to ensure the safety of the junction.
• Fires:
  • Continued saturation/destruction of OP DALLAS to allow friendly reinforcements to harden the junction.

C. Tasks to Subordinate Units

1. GREEN 1-0 (HQ / VBCI):

• Command the operation.
• Hold the Junction (Sector: Hansho Hill / Koran Rud).
• Coordinate fires on FSA PAKI.

2. GREEN 1-1 (Infantry Assault):

• Main Effort (Phase 1).
• Seize OP RESTREPO.
• Clear Ali Abad (Phase 2).

3. GREEN 1-2 (Support / VBCI):

• Hold the Junction (Sector: Ali Abad / Korangal).

4. NOIR 50 (2 REP Detachment):

• Provide overwatch and suppression from West Mountain position.
• Signal when set.

D. Coordinating Instructions

• ROE: Card 32-ALPHA (Stabilization). WARNING: Ashat population is HOSTILE. Maintain strict security in AA SHOSHA.
• Phase Lines:
  • PL BRONZE: Current Front Line.
  • PL ROUGE: Limit of Advance Phase 1 (Beyond Restrepo).

4. SERVICE SUPPORT (LOGISTIQUE)

A. Supply

• Rations: 24hrs on person.
• Ammo: Basic load. Extra 5.56mm and 7.62mm linked available via vehicle resupply.
• Water: Critical. 3L per man minimum.
• Vehicle Recovery: VBCIs are self-recovering where possible; heavy recovery assets at BOA Napoleon on standby.

B. Medical

• CCP (Casualty Collection Point): TBD by medical team.
• Role 1: BOA Napoleon Medical Station.
• MEDEVAC:
  • Category A (Urgent): Launch Scramble.
  • Category B (Priority): Ground convoy if road is clear.

C. Prisoners

• A collection point will be established near Ali Abad village.
